The president of Botswana Tertiary Student Sports Association (BOTESSA) Herbert Letsebe is currently under investigation for alleged embezzlement.

Reports reaching Sun Sports this week is that the president was previously suspended but the BOTESSA executive committee has since lifted the suspension. According to impeccable sources close to the matter, the president was slapped with the suspension at a meeting held this past Monday by the committee. The committee has since meet this week and decided to lift the suspension even though investigations are ongoing in the matter.

The embezzlement case is said to involve money amounting to P40 000. The focus of the investigation is currently focusing on how the money was accessed from the BOTESSA coffers, as several individuals have to sign for the release of funds.

Meanwhile, the Association said their treasurer Boiki Selerio is under suspension for alleged embezzlement. Reached for comment, Letsebe could not comment on the matter at press time. For his part, BOTESSA spokesperson Duncan Segabo confirmed that they are still investigating the matter. However, he confirmed that they have lifted Letsebe’s suspension following a committee meeting this week “We are yet to conclude our investigations and if need be, we will act on the matter,” he said. Segabo further explained that they are also investigating their Secretary General Moreetsi Kediseng, who is also implicated in the matter.
